From a start in Celene

Helping the Fieldmen's Guild
Helping the Fieldmen's Guild

After defeating the Kobold’s and returning to Enstad, the party elected to postpone heading south to defeat the Kobold’s who were pillaging the Glinthand Guild and who had already claimed 3 other adventuring parties.

They chose instead to investigate what was causing the disappearance of local Shepherds and their flocks from the grazing fields on the west bank of the Handmaiden River. After meeting with the “Head Counter” of the Fieldmen’s Guild, Emol Sheurer, they escorted a group of shepherds and their flock across the river to serve as guards and attempt to ambush any would be attackers.

After a brief battle with some hobgoblins and near loss of one of the shepherds, the party tracked the creatures tracks to their hideout. They found some of the sheep that had disappeared, and were attacked several times by small waves of Hobgoblins.

Several skirmishes later, the party found themselves in a Temple of Bane with fresh blood still on the alter. They found a layout of underground tunnels that supposedly were under the Academy. The maps were in three parts and not labeled.

Upon further investigation they were attacked in the long hallway by several Hobgoblin Soldiers and a powerful Warcaster. After a quick but bloody battle on both sides, the party defeated the remaining Hobgoblins and found a huge room filled with empty bunks. The part also found the bed of the Warcaster and a Magic Orb (+2). In the corner of the room they found the remains of the shepherds. By the look of the remains they had most likely been sacrificed and then eaten by the Hobgoblins.

Kobold Pirates

Two Merchant guilds are having their supply routes along the Handmaiden river plundered by Kobolds. Brickstellar to the North, and Glinthand to the South. The party chose North as they had just come from the North and were suspicious these Kobolds might be linked to the Cult of Bain.

The Koblods used a balista to drive anchors into the passing vessel, holding it in place while they slung bullets at the crewmen and party. Kobolds swam to the boat and were easily defeated. The Kobolds on shore were more elusive but were brought down by use of ranged weapons/spells and by Qrl’s daring tightrope run across the Kobolds anchor lines which allowed him to fall the remaining enemies.

The group followed the Kobold tracks back to a a cave which proved to be a hold up for a Dragonborn cleric of Tiamat. The cave was well protected by Kobold Dragon Shields. The cleric had been embued with divine wings that alternated through the colors of the chromatic dragons, symbolizing his devotion to Tiamat. After storming the hold and vanquishing the enemies, the party found a good amount of loot, and returned to Enstad

Cult of Bane
Who likes an evil conquering God? Not us!

A threat to the Adventuring Academy has been uncovered!

After successfully completing our graduation exam by killing and routing the goblins who were raiding merchant wearhouses, the adventuring party returns to the academy with one goblin in tow as prisoner. Mistress Heket is pleased and promises to meet later and reveal anything that the goblin confesses. The party heads to the Brightly Plumed Pheasant to watch feather dancers and feast in celebration of their graduation and good fortune. Later Mistress Heket appears and reveals bad tidings for the Adventuring Academy.

“The group of thieving goblins were chosen by a cult of Bane which is primarily made up of other goblins. Their task was to gain arms to launch an attack on the Adventuring Academy. The goblin boasted that ‘Younglings are sure to die because they have been bred to be conquered by the God of Conquest.’ After some coercion, the prisoner revealed that the location of the cult is north towards the Kron Hills, and halfway there turn towards the Lortmil Mountains. The cult is on the steepest cliff face.”

And so the brave adventurers make preparations to travel to the cult location and deal with this emerging threat…

After each recieving 1 gold piece from Mistress Heket for our troubles, we set off north towards the Kron Hills. Pronat is from this area, and was familiar with the area. When we arrived, we found that the steepest portion of the cliff face is tiered- there is a top tier and a middle tier which has multiple deep-looking cave openings. It was decided that rather than simply climbing the mountain and possibly announcing our presence to the cult members prematurely, we should travel further north and climb to the top tier of the cliff, then climb down in an effort to be somewhat more stealthy. Miraculously, no party members fell to their doom while climbing up or down the dliff face.

When at last we descended to the section of cliff with the numerous cave openings, Qrl, our most stealthy party member, volunteered to quietly look into the caves to determine the lay of the land. Unfortunately, his presence was detected and 3 large goblins and 5 minion-looking goblins rushed from the cave to attack us. Within 6 seconds, all of the small goblins were killed, leaving the three large and tough looking goblins. One of these was cleverly pushed from the cliff face and died with a satisfying thwack! as his body hit the ground far below.

Pronat was badly skewered in the arm by one of the remaining goblins, but after a long and very bloody battle, our party prevailed. 7 gold was found on the bodies of the fallen goblins, although the goblin that was pushed from the cliff face was not searched.

Graduation Exam
goblins, badgers and rats- oh my!

To graduate, we must complete our first quest!

In order to graduate from the Adventurer’s academy, the brave adventurers Qrl (human rogue), Plum (gnome bard), Kac (race challenged warden), Pronat (dragonborn chaos sorceror) and Turviel (elf druid) have been assigned a task by Mistress Heket, the stealth instructor at the academy.

“There had been reports of a rat infestation in grain silos (not uncommon at this time of year), but also minor burgalries of goods warehouses in the vicinity of the rat infestation. Your charge is to investigate the warehouses and silos, eradicate all the rats, track the criminals to their hideout, and bring them to justice- alive or dead.”

And thus begins our adventure…

We set off towards the warehouse district of the city. Qrl, whose family are traveling merchants, did not know any of the warehouse employees, but recognized a dock worker who was passing through. The dock worker informed us that the warehouses are owned by three main merchants: The bricksellers (emblem= brickwall), who deal in lasting goods like leather and steele, the spinners (emblem= spider web), who deal in foreign textiles but are very rarely seen and only come out at night, and lastly, glinthand goods (emblem = GHG) who deal in common goods.

Beside these three warehouses, there were several grain silos. Rats were heard scurrying in the first silo, so we bravely entered. The silo contained several pallets stacked with hundreds of pounds of grain. A large rat was found that was killed after it bit Plum. Under the pallet where the rat was, we discovered a crawlspace that lead to the sewers. Miraculously, we all were able to descend into the fetid, stinking waters without futher incident or harm.

Once in the sewers, a secret door was spotted in the side of the sewer tunnel, which lead to a large number of rats and a hallway. the first door off the hallway contained a dead body of an adventurer. We looted the body, figuring that at this point, the poor adventurer wasn’t using his club, medium sized leather armor or 9 gold pieces.

However, in our post-loot glee, Turviel did not notice a sneaky goblin appear and stab him in the ribs. Turviel turned into a badger (as he is known to do when startled) scratched at the goblin, and then retreated to heal whilst the rest of the party thouroughly killed him. Sneaky-no-more goblin was then looted of his 6 gold pieces, black leather armor (size small), and very nicely made short sword. The nice short sword was claimed by Qrl, and had the brickseller stamp on it. In the room with the goblin, there was also a backpack with fresh produce in it. It was speculated that sneaky-no-more goblin might have been a vegan.

Down the hall, we found three more goblins. Two goblins were slayed but Plum, our fearless and charismatic leader, wished to keep the third alive for questioning. Since none of us speak goblin, this will have to be accomplished at some other time. In the meantime, goblin three is unconscious, and the other two dead goblins were looted of two sets of small leather armor, one set of small chainmail armor with the brickseller stamp, one battleaxe which Kac took, two short swords and 25 gold pieces.

A final secret door was located and opened by Turviel, who then immediately fell into a spiked pit trap. Inside this room was loot, which ended up being 2 healing potions, 30 gold pieces, and a small box without markings which contained two pieces of flint. The flint pieces are Hunter’s Flint, which are a wonderous item, described further on page 173 of the Adventurer’s Vault.

The night ended with us each receiving 202XP each, and 11 gold pieces. *

Still to be sold, assigned or dealt with: 1 club

1 small sized black leather armor
